President Pakistan Medical Commission held a press conference regarding MDCAT
President Pakistan Medical Commission Dr. Naushad Ahmed Sheikh held a press conference in the central office regarding the MDCAT exam. President, Vice President and other PMC officers participated in the press conference.
President PMC said that after the appointment of the new council of PMC by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the council solved the long-standing problems of doctors, students and other related people on a priority basis. So far more than 2 lakh 10 thousand students have registered for MDCAT exam. President PMC said that the allotted seats in government and private medical and dental colleges across the country are 20,800. He said that the MDCAT exam will be conducted in one day on November 13 with the support of provincial and federal public universities. In order to facilitate Pakistani students to pass the MDCAT exam, 55% marks for MBBS and 45% marks for dental have been fixed.
Students securing 60% marks in the Inter Examination for Medical and Equivalent will be eligible to take the MDCAT examination. The inter-examination passing percentage for MDCAT exam qualification has been increased from 65% to 60%. MDCAT exam will be conducted through manual mode and on paper. MDCAT exam correct answers will be displayed on the PMC website by the respective universities only after the exam. He further said that the MDCAT exam will be conducted in Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit and Azad Kashmir and internationally MDCAT exam should be conducted in United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia because there are more students. will MDCAT Exam Syllabus is already available on PMC website and there will be no change in it.
The first NLE exam will be held in the last week of this month. The passing mark for both NLE Step 1 and 2 has been reduced from 70% to 50%. Dr. Naushad Ahmed Sheikh said that.
PMC has qualified for WFME registration. A special task force has been set up for WFME. The Task Force is taking all steps regarding WFME. Acquiring WFME qualification is the top priority of the institution.
President PMC said that the council decided that PMC, being the medical and dental regulatory body, would register basic postgraduate medical and dental qualifications and medical education qualifications recognized by PMC. Earlier, 6500 post graduate qualifications were eliminated by PMC.
The council decided that the inspection of medical and dental colleges will be done by the PMC. Renewal of registration certificate of doctors has been extended from 2 years to 5 years as several complaints were received in this regard. The Council has decided to cancel the existing pathways for foreign medical and dental graduates and issue a list of foreign medical and dental colleges/universities recognized by the Commission.
So far, within 30 days of taking charge of the new council, 7290 renewals and licenses have been issued, 1085 certificates of good standing have been issued, 454 faculty members have been registered, 338 postgraduate clinical qualifications have been registered, 110 foreign graduates have been registered.
The MDCAT exam will be held at provincial level in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Khairpur in Sindh and Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan in Punjab. It will be conducted in Swat, Peshawar, Abbottabad and Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Gilgit in Gilgit-Baltistan and Mirpur and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The MD CAT exam will also be conducted in the federal capital Islamabad. President PMC said that the institution is working day and night for students, doctors and all stakeholders and utilizing all the resources in this regard. All possible support is being provided.
